Weekly Update #1

Ladies and gents

We are proud to announce that The Polished Edge has been up and active for a full week and what a week it's been! Here is a quick post rounding up of the top 8 things that happened this week.

O N E - S A R A

As I've told you told you about a million times, I entered Westfield Selfies competition to win a trip to Paris. Sadly I didn't win, Viona Agung won - lucky her. The following was posted on the Westfield Sydney Facebook page:

"Congratulations to Viona Agung who will be off to Paris thanks to her National Prize winning Selfie entry at Mt Druitt.

Our National draw judges, Alyce Cowell, Madelin Tomelty and Donny Galella praised Viona for her fashion bravery embracing 4 key winter trends at once – Lace, florals, metallics and the pointy pump.

Congratulations Viona, we hope you enjoy your trip!"

It's sad that I didn't win, but I'm so happy that such a deserving entry won, congratulations! Luckily they will

T W O - T O R I

At the beginning of the week I re-watched (for like the tenth time) She's The Man. No matter how many times I see this movie it never gets old. Amanda Bines is absolutely hilarious. She has the best comic timing and with Channing Tatum oozing sexy it is the perfect movie to watch on a rainy day.

T H R E E - S A R A

Back to school! What a pain! I don't hate school but I do like being able to lounge around and do a whole lot of nothing. We went back on Tuesday but it feels like we've been back for weeks. On the plus side though, we have exactly eight weeks till the next holidays. Not like I'm counting or anything!

This term they've launched a new thing where ever student needs an iPad to assist with learning. At first I thought it would be a great idea because it meant that all I'd need to carry around would be an exercise book and the iPad. In a practical sense, that sounds like a good idea right? Yes. But for some stupid reason the school wants us to download apps to use in conjunction with our text books. So now we are carrying all our textbooks, exercise books and an iPad. What the hell!

F O U R - T O R I

On Tuesday night I went out to dinner with my mum and a few of her friends. We went to this place in Castle Hill called Red Spoon Thai. It is absolutely delicious! Everything on their menu is so yummy especially their crab spring rolls and the garlic stir fry.

If you're ever in the area I highly recommend you check the place out. As well as beautiful and delicious food they have decorated the place so wonderfully that you feel like you're in a totally different country. The staff are so friendly and for the quality of food, the price you pay is reasonable. I give it four Tori thumbs up.

F I V E - S A R A

I got bangs! After weeks of sleepless nights (well maybe only a few minutes) I decided to get my hair cut. I think that I look a bit like Barbie but although people tell me I don't, I can't get it out of my head! I'll blog about it later in the week or two to show you all how it went. I really like it!

S I X - T O R I

On Friday night I was lucky enough to go to dinner with my Mum, Dad and Sara. We went to a restaurant that is a mix between modern Australian and Italian dining, a beautiful little place called Allure in Dural. Somehow we are related to the owners but I wouldn't be able to tell you how or if technically we are related. It's an Italian thing, everyone you meet is an Uncle or an Aunt - crazy.

It's an elegant, yet casual dinning with beautiful and tasty dishes. I give it three Tori stars!

S E V E N - S A R A

I dragged my family all over Towers on Saturday searching for the perfect pair of black boots. I found a similar pair of boots to the one's above but in leather. They are Guess (of course). I will most definitely be posting more about them in a new post next week!

E I G H T - T O R I

As you'll get to know, we are big on family. On Sunday my brothers usually play in door soccer with their team, Jax Pack. They are currently sitting fourth on the leader board out of ten teams. They may not be the best team in the competition, but they play pretty well every few games. This week they won, 5 - 2! We are by far the loudest supporters. It's always great to support family any way you can.

We hope you had a wonderful week and are enjoying our blog!

Much love

Tori's Wish List no.1

Hey Guys

I was home all day and ended up browsing the internet and then I decided it would be a good idea to make my first wish list. Here goes nothing!

Black Midi Skirt

This is a skirt that I have been looking at for ages. I love the length of it because it is youthful and fun without being to short. The colour is versatile and will also go with pretty much everything I own. It is very on trend and the midi length is something that I have been meaning to try for a while. This is a good skirt to begin with the trend due to the fact that it is a basic colour and style. You can find it here.

Sleeveless Geo Print Shirt

Another trend that I really like are long sheer button up shirts. I have quite a few different kinds in my collection and I would love to add this shirt to them. I also love that it is ombre which gives a unique look to your outfit and it combines the graphic prints to give a modern edge. I can definitely see myself wearing this all the time. You can find it here.

 Spaghetti Strap Cami

This top is a bold and edgy colour and it will easily become a staple item in any wardrobe. I have it in another colour which you can see in my previous post. This top is comfortable and can easily be dressed up or dressed down; an effortless to take from day to night in a classy way. You can find it here.

Cat T-shirt

I like this top because it is loose fitting and it has a cat on it (You might have gathered by now that my sister and I are big cat people. You can find it here. Its a casual top which is always a good thing to have. It successfully mixes a rocker look with a cute fem look. A fun and youthful item.

Multi Coloured Pullover
I absolutely LOVE the colour of this and I am also obsessed with jumpers and cardigans. You can find it here. As we come into the colder months a girl can't have enough cardigans. Winter is my favourite month and I think it's important to be stylish, comfortable and warm. An added bonus is that this particular cardigan matches my eyes perfectly (don't I have pretty eyes?)

Patterned Cut Out Peplum

This is a cute modern laser cut top. The top's pattern is a really unique and a great hero piece. Peplum is my best friend as it makes my waist really small while giving you a great curvy shape. It tames bigger ladies curves while it gives tiny dames a beautiful hourglass silhouette. The only advise I can give you is that not ever peplum is made the same always try it on before buying some are cut in unflattering places which will make you look bigger.

Thanks for reading and tell me if there is anything that you have been wanting to buy. Until next time.

Detail Alert: Westfield Outfit Detail

 Hey guys,

Welcome to my second solo post! I got so much positive feedback from everyone last post which was so great to hear! I really appreciate all you comments and congratulations.

As promised, this is my outfit that I won a $100 Westfield voucher for in the Westfield Selfies competition.

The more you get to know me the more you'll realise I have a nasty little habit. It starts with a G and ends in S, can you GUESS what it is? Oh yes, yes, jewellery, bags, shoes, tops and perfume (oh my!). In this case, it's my ever faithful white Guess jeans. I highly recommend buying a pair of Guess jeans, they are well made, don't lose their shape and don't fade as badly as some. Although Guess isn't doing extra skinny white jeans at the moment, I recommend picking up a pair for all year round as it's a great way to stand out without yelling too loudly. These Jeans from TopShop are pretty good value, if you're on the lookout for a pair, try these on for size!

My red top I originally bought from Dotti quite a few season ago. A top in a bright, yet complimentary to your skin tone that is plain is essential for every wardrobe. I chose red because my skin is not too pale and not to tan. I chose a scoop neck as it is a time less neckline and can be dressed up and dressed down (unlike a V neck which might reveal too much to be casual). Mod Cloth do an almost identical style here.

This is a close up of the jacket I got from Zara in Melbourne. It's so much better than the one in Sydney city! Such a better selection and not as many people. It's a really unique piece of clothing and actually really cool, it has a zip around the waist and you can take the bottom part of the jacket off and wear it as a cropped jacket or keep it clean with as full sized.

Oh la la! my Tiffany & Co Effiel tower and key necklace. Originally for a charm braclet, I decided to mix it up and put it on a necklace instead, I'm wild, right?

My favourite accessory, sunglasses. I literally have these glued to my face all season. If it were up to me I would have rooms full of them. I got these ones in particular because they were on sale from Oroton and face it, every girl needs something from the big O! You can get a similar style (or any really!) here.

I got these earrings from Dural Antiques as a birthday present, they match my ring!

I bought this bag from Guess in February, it must have been pretty popular because I bought the last one. I feel like Guess bags are hit and miss sometimes. This bag is well on trend but also something that will be in style for years to come. I love the triangle detail on the bag charm and the studs give it a feminedge feel. It's all sold out but you can buy the mini cross-body style on David Jones still here.

These are my beautiful rings. I'm very proud of them! The ring on my pinky finger on my right hand is from Diva. You can get a similar style here. The second one on that hand is from a boutique jewellery shop in Mollymook, my parents bought it for me while they were on holidays, similar style found on Aspire here. The other two rings are from a little antique store in Dural, they are one of a kind! If you want to check out more antique jewellery I suggest visiting your local antique shop or Dural Antiques.

In December my wonderful sister in law, Imogen (blog - tia_cherie), got married to my brother in a beautiful Southern Highlands country wedding. I was, of course, one of her bridesmaids and she decided we should wear these beautiful Stella Jewel Shoes.

They were originally $200 but we got (luckily) on sale for $75. At first I didn't like them all that much because I was used to platform shoes but they have definitely grown on me, especially now they helped me win the selfies competition (thanks Imogen!).

It's such a beautiful classic outfit with a modern twist. Absolutely adore it! I look elegant, sophisticated and I felt so confident wearing it. It seems everyone liked it, even my sister in laws cat, Beatle!

The only question now is what do I spend my gift card on!

Until next time
